General information

If you are interested in writing your thesis at IBIS, please use the contact form:

https://www.mercator.bwl.uni-muenchen.de/kurse/ibis

Current topics (and the respective supervisor) can be found at the bottom of this page.

If you have any questions or need help with your application, please contact Esther Nagel.

As a bachelor, master or diploma student in business administration (in exceptional cases, also other LMU programs), you can write your thesis at the Professorship for Internet Business and Internet Services.

We offer tight supervision and support for your thesis. Usually, topics are closely linked to current research and project work at the professorship. A topic beyond the current scope of research and project work is possible. There is no fixed start date. If the prerequisites are fulfilled, you can start working on your thesis at any time.

To gather additional feedback during the writing stage, students are asked to participate regularly in the thesis colloquium, where they will present their thesis to an audience of other students, their supervisors and professors.

The professorship provides guidelines and format templates for both, theses and seminar papers. Please use the appropriate guidelines when writing your thesis and consider our notes (see section "Downloads" at the end of this page).

Supervision of theses

The number of theses we accept depends on the current capacity of the professorship. Applicants for a Bachelor Thesis must have completed a seminar (PStO 2006, PStO 2008) or a compulsory seminar (PStO 2015) either at our professorship, at the Institute of Business Informatics and New Media (WIM), or at the Institute for Electronic Commerce and Digital Markets (ECM) with a grade of 2.3 or better.

For the Master Thesis, M.Sc. there are currently no restrictions, although we expect the attendance of relevant courses, especially the courses held by the aforementioned institutes.

Submission

If you are a student of a business program, your completed thesis must be submitted to the ISC (Information and Service Center Wirtschaftswissenschaftliche Prüfungen, Ludwigstraße 28 VG) latest at the due date, which is determined at the time of registration. Also consider the opening hours of the ISC!
